South Africa’s lack of commitment towards human rights in its foreign policy reflects its internal situation. South Africa is often referred to as “the destination of femicide”. Over 2,700 women, and 1000 children, were killed as a result of gender-based violence according to 2019 crime statistics. It is noted with interest that South Africa’s friends practice severe women’s rights abuses.
