9/11 was not the day that ‘changed the world’. It was the day that the good and free people of the world were forced to see what has always been there. It was the day we were globally forced to reawaken the notion of Good vs Evil.

It sounds almost Biblical, or too simple, to be true. For most, it is unfortunately too frightening to be true.

“Why would anyone want to hurt us?”
“Why would anyone ‘bite the hand that feeds’?”
“Why would anyone given education and true freedom, want to destroy it? Surely freedom is a natural human need?”

The answer is simple yet hard to swallow: there is Evil, and if the Good, reasonable, strong, open, truthful people of the world do nothing about it, it perpetuates itself.

What we are seeing now – the almost feverish way in which those desperate to blame their Western way of life for the strengthening of Evil – is not blindness. It is fear. And that fear is doing what it always does: it devours its host whole, giving way for Evil to further strengthen itself.

On this day we hold in our hearts all the good people standing in their backbone for Freedom. We hold in our hearts all those who ran straight into the buildings while civilians ran out. We hold in our hearts the nearly 3000 people who lost their lives, including the 343 firefighters and 71 law enforcement officers, and the thousands forever affected physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

We will never forget.
