Since President Cyril Ramaphosa urged South Africans to take on the Jerusalema dance challenge in celebration of Heritage Day, more wonderful videos have emerged, and not only from South Africa!

Our #1: Wild is Life – Zimbabwe Elephant Sanctuary, animals & staff dance together

Our number one favourite video has to be the one done by the resident animals and staff of Wild is Life – Zimbabwe Elephant Sanctuary. We were happy to see the animal kingdom join in the fun.

The staff and resident elephants of Wild is Life – Zimbabwe Elephant Sanctuary, take on the Jerusalema dance challenge.

Wild is Life posted their video with the following message: “We had SO much fun creating this #jerusalemachallenge video- the whole team got in on the action. Even Moyo makes a guest appearance and shows us how to boogie. Dance is the language that our soul speaks!”

Having the animal kingdom join the challenge gives an opportunity to raise awareness about animal welfare and the sanctuary and their culture of care.

#2: Ron Smith Care Centre (RSCC) in Lyndhurst, Johannesburg, staff & residents dance as one

Care workers and the elderly and frail residents of this care home, danced in hope and joy.

#3: Eswatini joins its neighbour South Africa in dance

The Kingdom of Eswatini, formerly known in English as Swaziland, joined in the festivities in a colourful tribute.

#4: Alberton’s Eden Park schools join in

Eden Park Market brings together Eden Park schools for the Jerusalema dance challenge on September 24, Heritage Day.

Our wish at Newsi is that the joy, unity and hope which South Africa has spread throughout the globe continues and that South Africans embrace their truly unique country and culture.
